How does the poem Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout make you feel? What poetic elements did Shel Siverstein use in his poem?

  1. "Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout" is a neat little poem trying to get kids to remember to always take the garbage out. It didn't really make me feel a strong emotion of any sort but it made me interested because of the rhyming scheme incorporated with the rhythm. These are also the strongest elements I noticed when I listened to this poem: rhythm, and rhyming.

  2. "Sarah Synthia Sylvia Stout" is such a cute little poem, trying to tell children that when you have responsibility and when you do you have to make sure that you do what you are told. When I read this poem I feel like I should make sure that my responsibilities are taken care of. You don't feel thatmuch until one of the last few lins where Sarah comes to a horrible fate. Shel Silverstein used many poetic techniques such as rhyming, rhythm, when you here "Sarah Synthia Sylvia Stout would not take the garbage out." Otamotapoia when you here "sour peas" that is let alone otamotapoia the poem also has Alliteration "Sarah Synthia Sylvia Stout" etc.

  3. I find that the poem "Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout," is a good and funny poem that can teach you somethings like, don't neglect your responsibilities. The poem uses poetic techniques like alliteration (Sarah Cynthia Sylvia Stout) and it uses a lot of rhyming (and though her daddy would scream and shout, she simply would not take the garbage out) which is just one of many.
